The latest news of the 35th year is Ekofilm’s new logo together with the festival’s new design, including the look of its website. The changes in graphics were conceived by the young artist Věra Marešová <www.vgrafik.cz>, the winner of the competition for the new logo and graphic design of Ekofilm.

Logo Ekofilmu 2009“While designing the new logo I was inspired by the name ekofilm and I chose an approach that would work with the EKO sign itself“, says Věra Marešová and adds: “Then I began to come up with various variations on the letters EKO. After playing around with them for a long time and creating several variations, I created a pictogram – a flower that is the EKO sign itself. The symbol of the flower is easy to understand and is inextricably linked to the festival’s content and focus; it’s expressively emotional and malleable.”

A graduate of the Art and Design High School in Brno and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design Prague and the Graphic Design and Visual Communication Studio, she has already celebrated success in her so far short professional career. She is the creator of, for example, the logo and unique visual style of the city of Brno and the Ministry of Transportation of the Czech Republic. She created the logo and graphic design of the Uherské Hradiště Film School and many others. She has received the following awards for her projects: The National Award for Design in 2005 and the Student Design award for excellent design 2007.

She participates in exhibits and since 2008 she has been working externally for Czech Television.

What do you wish for your winning logo and visual design of Ekofilm, we asked Věra Marešová.

“After a long time Ekofilm has a new look, a fresh and young visual style, which can encourage expectations for more changes and not only of the logo… I think that Ekofilm could attract more viewers and festival participants with its new distinctive logo.”
