Green reconstruction: Excursion to DADA District
Originally a textile factory on the embankment of the Svitava river offers a combination of loft housing, studios, open space offices and greenery on the roof garden designed by architects from DADA District, GreenVille, AcerWoodway, Partero, U1 and KOGAA.
DADA was created by the reconstruction of a factory building from the 1920s, which was gradually used for the production of textiles and electrical machines, then was rebuilt into an apprenticeship and fell into disrepair for the last 20 years. DADA is the story of three friends - a programmer, a painter and a project manager - who wanted to live differently and believed that reconstructions could be done with respect for local history and nature. That development can be done for something other than money. That it is possible to build industrial lofts and studios with a green garden on the roof without capital, experience and connections. And that it is possible to find a bunch of future neighbors who will give you their trust and a helping hand from the very beginning. Come and listen to how they did, what surprised them on the way to the gold factory, what they were lucky with and where they were wrong.
