EKOFILM 2025

Who will decide the winning films? Meet the main jury of the 51st EKOFILM

This year’s EKOFILM competition program received a record 242 submissions from 48 countries. From these, 25 of the most powerful films were selected – from Children of the Vanishing Island (co-produced by Darren Aronofsky), through Fantastic Plastics uncovering the hidden world of the plastics industry, to the investigative The Snake and the Orca or Virus Planet, exploring how dangerous viruses spread from animals to humans.

And who will decide the winners in the main categories?

  • Petr Horký – adventurer, filmmaker, traveler, author of award-winning documentaries and the Hausbot podcast.
  • Rozárie Haškovcová – influencer who makes climate topics accessible and relatable for the public.
  • Jan Svatoš – documentary filmmaker and wilderness enthusiast whose films have won over 15 awards; he has worked with icons such as Jane Goodall and Werner Herzog.
  • Petra Holubová – founder of Bydlíme v sadu, manager of a lavender farm, and promoter of sustainable living.
  • Štěpán Benoni – actor known from theater, film, and television, bringing a strong sense of storytelling and cinematic experience to the jury.
  • Erik Baláž – Slovak documentarian and nature conservationist whose films from the Carpathians and Tatras highlight the importance of wilderness protection.

As a special international guest, British filmmaker Alex Tate, BAFTA and EMMY winner with Czech roots, will bring an international perspective and experience from prestigious projects.
